

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen John Paul Carter, Saturday, November 28, 2015, peacefully at home with his loving wife and best friend of 30 years, Edith (Comeau) Carter at his side. Born February 22, 1950 in Halifax, he was the only son of the late John Joseph and Virginia Irene (Bradley) Carter.
Steve ‘Stanley” was a railroader, a life-long employee of CN Rail. Hired in 1971 as a Brakeman and held the positions of Conductor/Foreman, General Yardmaster and retired in 2006 as Yard Co-ordinator.
Steve’s life-long passion was music. He was an accomplished guitar player. Both Steve and Edith were well known by musicians and friends for hosting their Kitchen/Garage parties. His guitars were never out of reach and provided much comfort and joy throughout his life.
Besides the “Bride”, Steve is survived by his sisters, Gail (Dave) Langille, Carol “Carter” Ducharme, Lynn (Ralph) White; sons Shawn, Andrew and Stephen; Godchildren Scott, Megan and Jason. Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive on Wednesday, Dec 2, 2015 from 2 – 5 and 7 – 9pm. Funeral Mass Thursday, December 3, 2015, 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Bayers Road, Halifax. A private family burial to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or charity of choice.
Steve, you were much loved and will be sorely missed. Play on Steve, we’re listening … OVER.
