

Teresa Josephine Grant - 88, passed away peacefully at Ivany Place, Bedford on June 5, 2015. Born in Inverness, Nova Scotia in 1927, Teresa was the eldest daughter of the late Allan and Alice (Donahue) Grant.
She was educated at Holy Family Convent School, Inverness and Mount Saint Bernard College, Antigonish. She enjoyed a professional career spanning 35 years with General Motors Acceptance Corporation, Halifax. Teresa was known for her dedicated volunteerism. Throughout her life she assisted in the work of many charities including the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Ronald MacDonald House. For more than 50 years she was a very active participant in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church community. In 1997 she was recognized by the City of Halifax for her outstanding service to the community. Teresa’s interests were wide and eclectic. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed the arts. She rarely missed a local theatre production or a symphony performance. She had a keen interest in travel and, throughout the years, maintained an enthusiastic knowledge of current and political affairs. Her insights brought a depth of understanding to many spirited conversations. Teresa is survived by her sisters Mary Grant and Anne Flinn, Halifax brother Gerald, Inverness and brother Cyril (Bernice) Antigonish.
She will be fondly remembered by her dearly loved niece Carla Grant and nephews Bruce (Teresa) Flinn and Scott (Karen) Flinn. Teresa took great joy in her grandnephew Grant and her grandnieces Janice and Charlotte. Teresa was predeceased by her parents, her sister Elaine Grant, and her brother-in-law, Bill Flinn. In her later years, Teresa resided in the Berkeley, Halifax and Ivany Place, Bedford. Her family wish to thank the exceptional staff at both facilities for their extraordinary care and professionalism and for the friendship and devotion they always demonstrated toward Teresa.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, 6351 North St. Halifax. There will be no visitation by request. Interment will take place on Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Stella Maris cemetery, Inverness.
