

Thomas “Elmer” King, T. Elmer, Elmo, loving husband of Pauline King, was born at home in Evanston, NS to his mother, midwife, Marie (Hureau) King and his father, fisherman Henry King on March 26, 1939. He died on Feb. 25, 2026.
Elmer was a gentleman, kind, compassionate, and charismatic. With his time, talent, and treasure, he was quick to respond to many individuals and charitable organizations. He was a very active member of St. Ignatuis of Loyola Parish and was honoured to bring Holy Communion to the sick and to serve as a lector at Mass.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marie and Henry, his first wife, Roberta (MacEachen) King, his family members Paul Henry King, Father Raymond King, Fred and Cathy King, Helen (King) and Art Coakley. Besides his wife Pauline, he is survived by his brother Walter (Betty), sister-in-law Silvia, and many members of the King, MacEachen, and Harrity families. He is remembered with love by many nieces and nephews and in a special way by Allison, Debbie, Doreen, Vanda, Paul and Cara.
Elmer was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University with a degree in Arts, and Ottawa University – Theology. He also took business and financial courses from the University of Saskatoon, Seneca College, Toronto, and Dalhousie University, Halifax.
With his winning smile and outgoing personality, Elmer was perfectly suited to his chosen career in sales. He worked in sales management for Union Carbide, GTE Sylvania, and Combined Insurance. The highlight of his career was as owner and operator of Trebley Food Brokerage, Trebley Holdings Ltd., and Trebley Winter Sales.
Elmer was highly regarded by his staff and clients for his integrity and commitment to excellence. He loved all sports but especially baseball and golf. He loved competing, and especially loved winning! He loved to make people laugh and put them at ease. Even as his health deteriorated, he was still able to charm others with his beautiful smile and kindness. To know him was to love him.
Elmer was a strong supporter of St. FX and the Coady Institute. He was especially sensitive to the needs of the downtrodden and the hungry. If desired, please donate to any charity that serves the hungry.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, March 4 at 12:15 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 1288 Bedford Highway, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 33 Old Sackville Road, Lower Sackville.
