

Al was a Gentleman and a Scholar. He was thought of kindly and will be remembered for his integrity which was second to none.
He excelled in various career and business endeavors and enjoyed immensely his 17 successful years in real estate where he became the honoured recipient of Royal LePage Atlantic’s highest award - THE LIFETIME AWARD OF EXCELLENCE.
Al was an avid golfer, loved the sailing waters of St. Margarets Bay and always worked hard to deserve an annual winter rest in his special place in Hawaii.
Al is survived by Bea, his wife of 36 years; sons, Bruce (Charline) Dartmouth, Shane, Toronto; brother-in-law, Justice Simon MacDonald (Susan), Glace Bay; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth & Art Dakin, Yarmouth; sister-in-law, Barbara McDormand, Westport; niece and nephews. Al shared a special fondness with his grandchildren, Kelsey & Brandon MacDonald, Dartmouth.
He was predeceased by his children’s mother, Laurie MacDonald; sister, Ann Marie MacDonald; parents Winifred and Thomas MacDonald.
Visitation to be held on Wednesday, January 20th from 4-7 p.m. and Service Thursday, January 21st 11:00 a.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax (reception to follow).
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Heart and Stoke Foundation of Nova Scotia, The Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of choice.
