Travis Pelley, 50, a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend, went to be with Jesus on March 25, 2026, at Halifax Infirmary, with his wife by his side. Born in Gander, Newfoundland on February 1, 1976, Travis’ passion in life was Jesus Christ.
Those who knew Travis knew him to be a strong man with deep convictions and a genuine love for people. He spent so many years serving others, sitting in hospital rooms, driving people to appointments, and just being there for those who needed love. He loved being with friends and family, laughing and “havin’ a time”. As a professional firefighter in the Halifax Regional Municipality, he considered it a privilege to serve the people of this city.
Everything that he did stemmed from his close relationship with Jesus. God’s love was something that radically transformed Travis at a young age and he knew without a doubt that the most important thing he could do in life was know Jesus and point others to Him as well. While cancer took him from us early, his life is a strong testament to the goodness of God.
Travis loved being a dad. His main priority in life was to point his kids to the truth of God and that they would grow into men and a woman who would walk closely with Jesus. He always said his greatest role in life was being Emily’s husband. He loved her with all his heart. His family was his joy, and we are thankful for the legacy he has left them.
Travis is survived by his loving wife, Emily, his three children- Laura, Jesse, and Jake, his father and mother- Wayne and Marie Pelley, and his sisters Nikki and Natasha Pelley. He will be missed by his in laws-the Zinck family- and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
There will be a viewing at Snows Funeral Home- 339 Lacewood Drive- on Monday, March 30th from 6-8pm. A funeral will be held to celebrate Travis’ life on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, at 11:00am at Rock Church in Lower Sackville, NS. The service will be live streamed here: https://www.youtube.com/live/wOsxvBRnnMM
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Homeschool Adventures Organization here in Nova Scotia- a community that Travis held close to his heart. Donations can be sent via etransfer to [email protected]. Please include a note indicating that the donation is being made in honour of Travis Pelley.
