Debbie, I am so sorry for your loss.  So sorry.

I lived next door to Ryrie for about 5 years, 2012-2018. I got to know Ryrie while mowing the lawn and shoveling snow. Ryrie had a snowblower and was always keen to help dig out others in the cul-de-sac after big storms. I appreciated his positive disposition and genuine nature.  My condolences to Tracey and the children. 

Please accept my condolences. Although we became busy with our adult lives, our meet ups over the years will be cherished. I will dearly miss Ryrie's wit, his smile and love of life.

Ryrie was always so generous with his time, even while on holiday he spent time fishing with Jake on your dock to teach him the tips and tricks on how to catch Bass. My deepest condolences for your loss. I have fond memories of spending time with Ryrie at Bark Lake and then later in life at Acadia together. He was such an incredibly kind person and that's what I remember about him the most. On top of being a true, old fashioned gentleman I cannot think of a time when he said something bad about another person. Ryrie really did touch so many peoples lives and we were lucky to have known him. The world lost a truly good person but it pales in comparison to your loss.

I have a 38 yr old daughter and can barely imagine the shock, sadness and grief you must be feeling.

Dear family and friends, it's taken me some time to write here, as it is difficult to process what has happened. As many of you know, Ryrie has been a friend to me for over 20 years. When I first arrived at Grammar school, I didn't know anyone, and our friendship started with a promise: he would take me out for fettuccini chicken alfredo at his dad's restaurant and I would help him set up a beautiful fish tank. The fish tank never happened, but the beginning of a beautiful friendship did.  One that included supporting each other at our 'lowest' of times, because that's what true friends do. Ryrie and I shared secrets that to this day only the two of us will ever know. His family has always been a second home to me, and I promise to support you, Tracey and the kids in any way possible.  At my wedding (photo attached), right before the ceremony Ryrie ran over to my mom and said "Mars, now think about this, do you really want to have pictures taken of you during the ceremony with a glass of wine in hand?". "Let me take this from you, and I promise to return it after the ceremony". He was always looking out for my family, and always kept his word. Will miss you soo much big guy.

I am so saddened to hear of Ryrie’s passing. I was fortunate to be the camp director at Big Cove YMCA Camp when Ryrie was a counsellor in the late 1990’s. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him as such a vibrant young man. The children he counselled so very enjoyed his caring and compassionate personality. He was such a kind and gentle giant to these young children. I remember fondly seeing a group of young children playing with him in the camp field, often hanging off of him. I’m sure as an adult he continued his caring and loving approach to life. I am thinking of his extended family and children at this time. My deepest condolences for your loss. 

There will forever be a void in my life after the unthinkable passing of Ryrie. He was a true friend and there’s truly no one else like him. He treated everyone with such kindness and genuine care. How something like this could happen to such an incredible person, we will never know.

Ryrie was one of the first people I met at Acadia during our first year. I feel so lucky to have held onto our friendship over the years. My husband and I were so honoured to have him stand with us in Mexico on our wedding day. His friendship meant the world to both of us. 

I can’t imagine the pain you are all feeling right now, and I just want you to know that we are thinking of you constantly and sending our love and prayers.

Words cannot express the shock and sadness of Ryrie’s passing.  I’ve known him my entire life.  My fondest memory of him was in high school when he spent an entire summer becoming an much improved basketball player in his 2nd year on the team.  His confidence picked up and he started to excel in other aspects of his life.

I also remember years earlier going from flee market to flee market buying antiques for Jack Sprats and how proud Ryrie was of the restaurant.

I had the pleasure of working with Ryrie at the RBC branch on Hollis. I learned a lot from Ryrie from our time working together and his clients spoke very highly of him. He was so proud being a father to his two beautiful children and talked about them any chance he could get. I am so sorry for your loss.

I remember teaching Ryrie at Grammar School with his yellow Glooscap house  t-shirt and white shorts for gym class. Fast forward 20+ years and he’s this grown man talking investments with me and marrying my friend and colleague Tracey! And becoming a loving father to Claire and Rhett. Ryrie opened my first bank account at RBC when I became an employee. I remember him being such a good advisor that I insisted on taking the cheapest card but asked if we could go with the “good one” because he really made consider all the value.

Fast forward 5 years and I can recall how proud he was sharing the birth of his child, and how amazing it was to be a father.

Ryrie was a talented coworker, and a devoted father. I’m shocked and saddened - best wishes to your family.

I will remember Ryrie as a very warm, welcoming, and extroverted presence on our school playground every morning when he dropped off Claire. He was loving to Claire and always talked to all the other parents like they were his old friends. I will remember his deep laugh and how he welcomed all the kids as they arrived. He was so appreciative of us teachers, and wanted to help us in any way he could. He would excitedly tell us about cool places we could take the children on walks. He helped me plan a trip to a local trail that has fairy houses people have placed along the path. He was really exited about the prospect of our class going there this spring! After the Covid lockdown I will take a trip to the fairy trail and think of Ryrie and his wonderful laugh.

I always looked forward to coming home at Christmas time and celebrating the year with him over champagne and bitters in flute glasses.

I cherish all the memories (and meals) we shared together growing up. I’ve been going through pictures of Ryrie everyday.

Ryrie loved his family and friends so much. He was always there, and loved making sure everybody was happy. 

I miss him so much. I know a part of him will always be with me.

You are in my thoughts, and I am sending you so much love during this difficult time.

It is with my  deepest sympathy that I extend my  thoughts and prayers to Ryrie's family. He was a wonderful son and husband who loved his  family more than words could express. May God send you strength and may his memories give you comfort in the times to come.

We were shocked to hear of Ryrie's passing.  We remember him with great fondness, from times together at Anna & Rick's ... always smiling, always happy.
