

Victoria was born on May 14, 1938, in Freetown, Sierra Leone and she was predeceased by her husband Radcliffe Gilpin and parents Patrick Cozier (Barbados) and Louisa King (Sierra Leone). Victoria and her husband moved to Halifax in the early 60s to pursue their academic endeavours and returned to Sierra Leone in 1969 where she raised her children and finally resettled in Nova Scotia in 1996.
Victoria is survived by her beloved children, Marionette Gilpin, UK; Victor Gilpin (Yema), UK; Kelvin Gilpin (Shanika), Canada; Vicky Cline-Cole (Prince), UK; Sandor Gilpin (Amanda), Canada; her grandchildren Patrick, Victoria, Shalomi, Jadee, Donald, Shauna, Shawn, Cameron, Hailey, Marisa, Cora, Shania, Hudson; sisters, Mrs. Antonia Barber and Mrs. Olive Macauley, UK; and brothers, Mr. Victor Cozier and Mr. Raymond King, Sierra Leone.
Victoria's life journey was marked by her dedication to making a positive impact on those around her. As a Senior Administrator in the Registrar’s Department at Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone, she thrived on her work and had an undeniable commitment to students in their pursuit of academic excellence. Victoria's warmth and genuine care for her family and friends were felt in every aspect of her life. She relished spending time with loved ones, exploring the world through travel, engaging in heartfelt conversations across continents, and finding joy on the dance floor. Her iPad was a portal to her passion for politics and staying informed about the world she cared deeply for. She was known affectionately as "Mama Gillo," "Aunty," and "Gramma" in the Sierra Leonean community in Halifax. Victoria was a beacon of strength, love, and devotion to her family and friends and will always be remembered.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at QEII Halifax Infirmary for the care they provided Victoria during her final days. May her soul rest in peace.
