Weldon James Coolen

2018. Born in Woodside on May 14, 1927 the son of the late George Joseph and Margaret Viola

(Christian) Coolen of Prospect. He was in the Royal Canadian Airforce for ten years and retired

after thirty years from the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation in 1987. He is survived by

his loving wife of 66 years Kathleen (Doherty) Coolen and four children: Linda (Michael) Smith,

Greg (Kim) Coolen, Marianne (Greg) Macpherson all of Halifax and Elizabeth (Brent) Fraser,

Calgary, Alta; ten grandchildren: Nicola Smith, Alexander Smith, Barry (Theresa-Anne) Coolen,

Jamie (Gary) Coolen of Halifax; Matthew Macpherson, Toronto, Ont.; Katherine (Calvin) Hicks,

Killams Mills, N.B.; Nathaniel (Jien) Smith, Edmonton, Alta.; Adam (Emily) Fraser, Andrew

(Ashley) Fraser, David Fraser, Calgary, Alta. Three great-grandchildren: Weldon and Georgia

Hicks and Abigail Coolen. He is also survived by brother Jack (Joan) Coolen, Halifax and sister

Clarissa (Michael) LeBlanc, Prospect. He is predeceased by brothers George, Paul and sister,

Regina. Visitation is Wednesday, February 21 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral

Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. A funeral mass will be held at St Joseph’s Church, Shad Bay, on
