It is with great sadness and the heaviest of hearts that the Dollard family announce the sudden passing of Brent Dollard. Brent, age 56, passed away after a short illness on June 19, 2020, surrounded by loving family members.

Brent was born in Stephenville, NL on October 28, 1963 to Ignatius Dollard and Edna (Doucette), both deceased. After graduating high school, Brent moved to Toronto to become an electrical engineer. After working in Toronto for many years he moved to Halifax to start up the Atlantic Canada Branch of the international company, Omron. He remained with Omron until they moved their head office to the US and closed out the Canadian distributors. He then started Hitek Marketing, Inc.

Brent lived and worked in Halifax for the last 32 years but his heart was in Newfoundland & Labrador where he would return many times a year to visit friends and family, golf, and go snowmobiling with his brother, Terry. His love of lobster and scallops was legendary and he made a mean seafood chowder.

Brent only had to walk into a room and his smile and laugh became contagious. There was no sitting around a table without laughter. His gentle and loving spirit and great sense of humour are what has endeared him to all who knew and loved him. There are no words to describe how his presence will be missed on this earth.

He was cherished by many. Father to Cindy and “great hockey Dad” to Matthew; grandfather to two beautiful granddaughters, Debra and Kassidy; and fiancé to Wanda Dixon; loving brother to Norma Laflamme (Mario); Maureen Dollard; Terry Dollard (Cynthia); Glenda Fortuna (Lou), and Wanda Dollard (Mike Coles); and loving uncle to his nieces and nephews – Justin, Mikey, Jordan, Jeremy, Caitlin, Simone, Brandon and Kendall. His Aunt Millie and cousin, Maureen Taylor, held a very big space in his heart. There are many aunts and uncles and cousins on both the Dollard and Doucette side, as well as friends throughout Canada, whose life Brent has graced and who will miss him dearly. There will be a service at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, NS, by invitation only on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be available virtually as well by using the following link. https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/15344/wait In lieu of flowers make someone smile today. That’s what Brent would have wanted.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Stephenville, NL at a future date to be determined To place an online condolence please visit: www.jasnowfuneralhome.com

To Wanda, Trent, Alisha, Travis and the Dollard family, we’re so saddened by Brents passing. Although we didn’t spend a lot of time together, we have fond memories of meeting Brent on our last trip to Newfoundland. I could tell he made my sister happy, and that’s all that a brother can ask for his sister.

Wanda, I know you are heart broken over the loss of the love of your life, but know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. In times like these God gives us a peace that goes beyond human comprehension. That is the peace that we are praying for you today.

Wish we could be there to give you a big hug.

Thoughts and prayers,

Sincere condolences to the family. Felix and I had lots of laughs with Brent when we lived in Halifax and would get together to play cards. Gone way too soon. RIP Brent.

To all family of mine and Brents I hope what I share will make you smile.

I was with Brent and Wanda last year on his birthday. I was lucky to be on a business trip at that time or I may not have been there. We had a great time going to lunch and a tims run later to see Trent before I headed to the airport. We had a lot of laughs that day as Brent called himself mine and Wanda’s Manager as we had to sing a song as part of a 40th birthday surprise video for our sister-in-law Erin in Sault Ste Marie. He was doing the video of us and laughing all the way. He told us not to give up our current jobs! Months later we still joked about it, and he would always laugh at being called the Manager. Wanda shared this week he would often play that song on the radio when they were driving somewhere and giggle some more. I could not upload a video of him holding a tims and where I wished him a Happy Birthday. If anyone wants it I can send. He was smiling like a kid who just got some candy! I did not know those last few moments would be the last time I would see him. There was a pic of him and Trent from that day I am sharing below which is one of my favourites .

I am watching virtually today but my heart is there with you all.

Love to all and especially to my big sister Wanda!

To my big sis Wanda,

In times like these, we wish we were able to be physically present, give you a hug, and do what we could to support you through this difficult season. Lorelei and I have been, and will continue to, pray for you, Travis, Alicia, and Trent, and for all of Brent's family.

It was only a little while ago, that Brent dropped into the house here in St. John's. I put on the kettle and brought out some cookies to share. We shared a few laughs and a few stories over a cup of tea. Little did we realize it would be the last time we would see him.

I can only imagine your sense of loss and grief. My words feel inadequate. However, with that in mind, let me share a Scripture from God's Word that might bring you some comfort and a sense of God's strength and peace.

In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus is preaching to the crowds of people who gathered around Him. And in, what is known as the greatest sermon ever, He teaches the Beatitudes.

He reveals some ways that we are blessed, and many of them were contrary to what was considered blessed during that time. And in Matthew 5:4, He says, “You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.”

My prayer today is that Jesus would wrap His everlasting arms around you and let you know that you are not alone...that He is there with you, giving you strength beyond what you have and peace beyond your understanding.

Blessings, Love, and Prayers,
Robert and Lorelei Lodge
