William "Bill" Mason

Mason, William(Bill)-74 of Halifax/Prospect passed away peacefully in the VG Hospital on July 15, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was a son of the late Gerald and Ellen Mason. Bill joined the RCAF, worked for Canadian Mortgage and Housing as Senior Building Inspector. He was a trustee for Atlantic Memorial Elementary School, a very active member of the Royal Canadian Legion BR#153, held several positions as well over ten years as the Sports Chairman. He began and organized a Little League baseball club, a Junior Dart league, several other sports events. He coached the White’s Lake Sr. Eagles ball team to victory. He volunteered for the Canadian Diabetes Association and received a plaque of recognition. He had lots of interests and was busy and active most of the time. He enjoyed himself, especially with his family and grandchildren. He had lots of hobbies. Bill was a loving husband, father grandfather, brother, as well as brother-in-law and father-in-law. He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 53 years, Joyce(Snow), sons Derek(Kathy)White’s Lake, Jeff(Hilda)Halifax, daughter Denise(Al Nauss)Halifax, grandchildren Candace, Bryan, Deanne and William Mason, Amanda, Madison and Megan Nauss, brothers Gerald(Anne)Bridgewater, Kenneth, California, Donald(Virginia)Alberta, Edward(Yvonne)Alberta, John(Valerie)Halifax, sister Helen(Ray Buckland)Halifax, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter Deborah Marie, in infancy, brothers Bernard(Bernie) and Robert(Bob). Visitation will be held Monday, July 18, 7-9 pm in JA Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Dr. Hfx NS. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 19 10:30am in St. Benedict Parish Church. Family flowers only.
