Bill is survived by his wife Jean; his son Mick and wife Tara of Austin, son John and granddaughters Kristen and Amber of Round Rock; his brother Bob and wife Pinky of Maryland, and brother Phil of Galveston. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Eleanor of Texas.
Bill was born on May 11, 1940 in Knox City, TX to Roy and Eleanor Tomlinson. He graduated from Millersview High School in 1957. He married Jean Kinsey in June 1959. Bill began working for the Miles Messenger as a printer when he was 13, and continued in the trade until retirement in 2003. Bill and Jean had two boys, Mick (1962) and John (1972). His children remember him as a kind, patient, and encouraging father.
Bill was an active and dedicated member of the Masons, raised as a Master Mason in the 1970s. He also held positions in York Rite, Scottish Rite, and Suez Shrine, and he was a potentate in 1987. He attended lodges in San Angelo, Miles, and Evant.
Bill will always be remembered for his warm heart and easy smile, and for his devotion to his family, as well as his die-hard dedication to the Texas Longhorns. Bill loved a good game, a good book, and a good cup of coffee.
A memorial is scheduled for Friday January 9 at 2:00pm, at Riley’s Funeral Home in Hamilton. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Suez Shrine Center Travel Fund or the Pottsville Cemetery Association. The family would like to thank Dr. Kristen Stegemoller of Hamilton for her efforts, care, and dedication.
