Bobby Dan Stevens was born in Belton, Texas on April 30, 1947 to Charlie Cleo Stevens and Nadine Elizabeth Coppin Stevens. On July 12, 1967, he married the love of his life, Linda Kay Keller and together they had one son, James Pleas (plaz) Stevens whom they raised in Hamilton.
Bobby served in the United States Army where he was initially stationed at Fort Hood. Later He was a member of the 697th Engineer Company stationed in Thailand. Following his service in the military Bobby made a career in steel fabrication, working many years until his retirement from C & F Steel Company in December 2016.
Bobby loved the water, more specifically fishing and boating. If he wasn’t doing one of those two things, he was definitely talking about it. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found sitting on the river with a fishing pole in his hand.
According to some, if you looked up the word ornery in the dictionary, there would be a picture of Bobby Dan. One of his favorite past times was picking on people, the more riled up you would get, the bigger the smirk on his face. He would laugh so hard that you couldn’t help joining in with him. But one thing is sure, no matter what he loved his family and friends.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Nadine Stevens, two brothers Billy Roy and James Stevens, two brothers-in-law Hershell “Butch” Owen and Kenneth Porter, and nephew Shannon Sutton.
Surviving family members include his wife Linda Kay and their son James Pleas, his beloved dog and companion Lightening, one brother - Charlie and his wife Debbie, four sisters, twin sister Shirley Stevens, Judy and husband James White, Glenda and husband Kevin Wolf, and Becky Porter, one sister in law Joy Stevens, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service for Bobby will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Riley Funeral Home, 402 W Main, Hamilton, Texas 76531.
