Born December 13, 1933 in Goodlett, Texas, he grew up in Baytown. He was a 1951 graduate of Cedar Bayou High School. After attending Lee College, he finished college at Sam Houston State in 1960 with a degree in journalism.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from June 1951 to March 1955. After retiring from Chevron Corporation in 1995, he moved to Hamilton County.
He and Ruth Taylor of Baytown were married June 2, 1956. They have four children.
He was preceded in death by his wife. His survivors include daughters Michele Loftin (Spring, TX), Melanie Burger and her husband (Rowlett, TX); sons, Curt (Austin, TX), Chris and his wife (Austin, TX); grandchildren Asa Loftin, Katelyn Doucet, Merrick Davis, Jade and Lia Hooper, and Cruz Hooper; great grandson, Troy and great granddaughter Tessa Loftin; sister-in-law Brenda (Baytown, TX); a number of nieces and nephews; and two grandnephews who graduated from Hamilton High School, Marcus and Joel Mulkey.
The body of the deceased was cremated. At his request, there were no services.
