On December 1, 1928, Earl Dwain Kavanaugh was born to Lawrence Kavanaugh and Orena Barnett Kavanaugh.
Earl lived in Hamilton County all of his life, and in 1948, Earl and 3 of his friends joined the Marine Corp. He was in the Korean Conflict and Chosen Resevoir.
In 1950 he came back from California with his wife, Kitty Barnes. They had 2 children; Elaine and Stephen. Kitty passed away 6 years later.
On September 12, 1959 he married Dorothy Streater. They had a daughter; Michelle.
Earl lived on the Leon River for the next 70 years. He was a rancher, avid arrowhead hunter and gardener. He took pride in his garden and loved to share his green thumb with his neighbors, friends and family. He also loved woodworking and building furniture. Earl loved it when it was deer season. He also loved to fish and Bluegrass in Pearl, Texas.
Earl always felt blessed to live and work on his land. He was an extraordinary man, that lived an extraordinary life.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; Katherine Barnes, his parents; Lawrence and Orena Kavanaugh; wife of 54 years; Dorothy Kavanaugh, granddaughter; Jessica Fields, his son; Stephen Kavanaugh, his sister; Maureen Watts.
He is survived by daughter; Elaine Kavanaugh Jones, daughter; Michelle Kavanaugh Moravec and husband Willie, daughter in law; Brenda Kavanaugh, his special friend Jean Ann Seale, who he thought was his daughter, Great grand Kids; Peyton and Connor Fields and one niece Mary Watts and his grand dog; DOT, that he loved.
The family would especially like to thank the Amedisys Hospice. We could not have ask for a better team. They were the best: Shawmequa Edwards, Leslie Marshall, Reagan Kucera.
A visitation for Earl will be held Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kavanaugh Ranch, 2229 CR 105, Hamilton, Texas 76531. A graveside service will occur Monday, December 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Kavanaugh Cemetery, 2229 CR 105, Hamilton, TX 76531.
