Ezra Israel Swarey, age 86, of Evant Texas, died Saturday, May 23, 2021 of pneumonia and heart disease. He was born April 21, 1935 to parents Israel and Gertrude Swarey who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by brothers Jacob Swarey, Christian Swarey, Thomas Swarey, Israel Swarey; sisters, Elizabeth Stoltzfus, Sarah Fisher, and Annie Swarey. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Barbara C Byler Swarey, brothers Levi Swarey, John Swarey and sister Gertrude Jones, 7 children, Sarah Parr, Levi Swarey, Saloma Kelsey, Henry Swarey, Gertrude Atteberry, David Swarey and Kenneth Swarey, 9 grandchildren, Sam Sprouse, Kathleen Ernest, Elizabeth Ristau, Carrie Donahue, Elise Smothermon, Travis Atteberry, Cassidy Atteberry, Benjamin Swarey, and Caleb Swarey, 4 great-grandchildren, Asher, Hannah, Norah, and Micah. Ezra met his wife Barbara at a church social in Pennsylvania. Barbara remembers his dark curly hair, sociable manner, love of singing and playing the harmonica, and rides in his hot-rod buggy. As a family, Dad liked to take his family on long trips across the country, play music together, fish, hunt, ice-skate, sledding and growing large vegetable gardens. Ezra was a hard worker who believed in God and family. He provided for his large family by building homes, working in construction and farming. Private graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Evant, TX.

My condolences re are heartfelt. There are few men n my life that have had greater impact than Ezra. Such a great example of love of life, patience and love of God.
Although his passing is our loss, he lives on with us.
