On Friday the 13th of October 1934, at the home of Elton and Edna Brister, Geneva Lillie Brister was born in Bogue Chitto, Mississippi. She was number three of five children. Here is where she learned the values of family. She loved her mother, father and siblings. Growing up poor on material things, she never forgot when her daddy brought home a guitar, and then a mandolin. That is where her love of music started.
On June 19, 1954, she married George Tuttle Logan in Jackson, Mississippi. George was in the transportation industry. They lived in Jackson, MS, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, LA, El Paso, TX and Dallas, TX. Along this way they had three boys. Tim, Dean and Toby. Geneva loved her boys. They were her world. As a stay at home mom, she taught her boys family values, the 7 chords on a guitar and her love for music.
George passed away August 6, 1973. Her heart was broken. Then God sent Burt Leslie Schmidt into our lives. She and Burt married February 7, 1975 in Cedar Hill, TX. She was very blessed to have two great loves. Burt owned a trucking company "Diamond S Trucking". And we all went to work. Burt passed away April 21, 2006. Her heart was broken again.
She loved music, church, camping, traveling, cowboy gatherings and being a mom. She loved living on the farm and tending to everyday chores. She loved her friends, family and most of all she loved doing anything and everything her boys were doing. She was quite the dare devil. And she loved her little dog, Charlie Brown.
On May 21, 2019 at 7:50 AM in Granbury, Texas, Geneva was called to Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her older brother Linsber Brister and her loyal dog, Charlie Brown.
