Gillmer Harkins

Gillmer Eugene Harkins, 82 of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Aug. 4, 2010, at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Riley Funeral Home Chapel, with Jake Morphew officiating. Burial will follow in the Bulman Cemetery under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Hamilton, TX.

Mr. Harkins was born July 16, 1928, in Hamilton County, Texas, to the late Mr. And Mrs James Robert and Emma Eldred Harkins. He married Cleone Graeter in Hamilton in 1949 and she preceded him in death. Mr. Harkins was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a building contractor by trade and faithfully served his country in the United States Army.

Survivors include, on brother, James D. Harkins and wife, Jean, of West, Texas; on sister, Yvonne Spradlin and husband Lyndon, of Golinda, Texas; one sister-in-law, Faye Graeter and husband Butch, of Jonesboro, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, Joann Crenshaw and husband, Johnny, Patricia Foreman and husband Robert, Linda Garrett and husband,Noel, Sandra Bigham, Mike Spradlin, Cindy Hardwick and husband, Joe, Gary Harkins and wife, Stacey, Tim Harkins, Mike Horton and wife, Angie, Randy Horton and wife, Sharon, and Garry Horton and wife, Cathy. Mr. Harkins is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pallbearers will be, Tim Harkins, Gary Harkins, Mike Spradlin, Noel Garrett, Jimmy Murray, and Robert Fulman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Hardwick and Johnny Crenshaw.
