Helen Marie Townsend 94 passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025. She was born July 1, 1931 in Hamilton to Dyer and Helen Manning. She was married to the love of her life Truett Townsend Sr. on June 4, 1950. She was a long-time resident and public servant of Hamilton. Many knew her for her longtime employment at Lengefeld Insurance Agency, formally Campbell Insurance Agency where she greeted everyone with a smile and a hug. As well as her eighteen-year career as a member of the Hamilton City Council. She also was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church where she served meals, helped with the Harvest Festival, VBS, and many other activities. Throughout her life she always looked for new experiences including traveling all over the United States as a part of the Stephenville Travel Club where she made life-long friends.
Helen loved spending time with her Red Hatters, spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and making gifts for her loved ones by crocheting and embroidery.
Helen is survived by her children; Debbie Payne and Truett Townsend Jr., grandchildren Harmony Thompson and husband Damon, Milton Payne, Lyndze Bullock and husband Eddie, and Sherod Townsend. Great grandchildren; Landon Thompson, Emma Thompson, Brooklee Bullock and Peyton Townsend.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Truett Townsend Sr. and son-in-law, Russell Payne.
