Jamie Weaver

James Vaughn Weaver, 62, of Hamilton, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, in Waco after a courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s. Services were held Sunday, Dec. 16, at First Baptist Church of Hamilton under the direction of Riley Funeral Home. Burial followed in Center Valley Cemetery. Jamie was born July 21, 1956, in Fort Worth to John Henry and Norma Jo Brumley Weaver. He was a 1974 graduate of Hamilton High School and received a Bachelor of Science in mechanized agriculture from Tarleton State University. He was married to Maria Elena Rice on Aug. 18, 1979, in Jonesboro. He loved his family, his church, barbershop singing, tractors and Hamilton Civic Theater. He worked for more than 20 years for Lawson Implement Co. and more recently was co-owner of the Hamilton Herald-News. He was a deacon and a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church, where he was also on the media and technology committee for many years. He was a director emeritus for Hamilton Civic Theater and was best known as “Aunt Pearl” in A Tuna Christmas. He loved laughing and making people laugh. He is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, James William Rice. Survivors include his wife, Maria; two children, Timothy Jay Weaver of Hammond, LA and Tamera Joy Weaver Ryan of Hamilton; a brother, Joel Weaver and wife Joanne of Georgetown; three sisters, Julie Weaver Patterson and husband Mike of Crawford, Jana Weaver Cain and husband Frank of San Clemente, CA, and Jennifer Weaver of Jonesboro; his mother-in-law, Martha Oustad Rice of Hamilton; three brothers-in-law, Zel Rice and wife Barbara of Tickfaw, LA, Lyn Rice and wife Connie of Brownwood and Jason Rice of Hammond, LA; a sister-in-law, Patti Rice Glen and husband David of Fayetteville, NC. He is also survived by his bonus children, Heather Morgan Hansard and husband Andy; Hoyt Morgan and wife Alathia and Amanda Anglin Thompson and husband Mark, all of Hamilton. He had eight grandchildren, Lucy Jayne Ryan and Owen James Parrott, Jaxon Shane Hansard, Ashtyn Diane Hansard, MacKinsy Irene Morgan, Violet Noelle Morgan, Hoyte Scarlett Morgan and John Carter Hansard, all of Hamilton. He had numerous nieces and nephews, Ashley Patterson Byrom and husband Clint and Jackson, Emma, Kate and Jill of Waco; Jordan Patterson of Stephenville; Matthew Weaver of Austin, Meredith Weaver of Oakland, CA; Michael Weaver of Georgetown; Justin Griffin of Jonesboro and Jacob, Bridget and Lily Cain of San Clemente, CA; Rhonda Rice Hatfield and husband Nathan and Alexa, McKenzie, AJ and Jackson of Loranger, LA; Amanda Rice Bundick and husband Heath and Matthew and Ashlyn of Brownwood; Brian Rice and wife Kasi and Alivia and Joshua of Zephyr; Ryan Rice and wife Brittany and Skylar, Bosten and Brody of Ponchatoula, LA; Crystal Rice Bellows and husband Ethan of San Antonio; Marlee Rice of San Antonio; Jameson Rice of Hamilton; Ashleigh Glen and husband Garrett Harrington and Rosemarie of Germany; Natalie Glen of Waco, Ethan Glen of Houston and Stephen Glen of San Antonio. He loved and was loved by many in his community and he was a kind and gentle giant. He held lots of babies and loved every second he was able to spend with his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Hamilton Civic Theater, the Alzheimer’s Foundation or FBC media and technology department.
