Johnnie Charles Bowie was born in Dallas, Texas on October 22, 1945 to parents Loren and Doris Bowie. Grandparents were Loren Howard and Louise Bowie of Dallas, and John and Edrie Reed of Dallas, Texas. Johnnie passed away in Hamilton, Texas on November 6, 2020. He was seventy five years old.
Mr. Bowie graduated from Kimball High School in Dallas in 1964 and continued his education in Denton at the University North Texas with a degree in Secondary Education and a degree in Interior Design. He worked in Houston with the University of Houston in the Design field for several years. He then worked in Galveston, Texas with the University of Texas at Galveston in design and architectural restoration of several Historic Homes.
Johnnie has maintained a home in Calumet, Michigan where he loved to spend Summers with dear friends David and Diane Kesanan, Jan Johnson and Steve O’Dell. In 2016, he moved back to Texas and built a home on the ranch of his beloved Nephew, Morris and Gay Padgett in Gatesville where he lived until health conditions determined he should join his sisters Buckie and Cheryle in Hamilton, Texas.
Johnnie Charles Bowie is survived by sisters; Buckie Pate and Cheryle Shable of Hamilton, beloved Aunt Mrs. Wm H. Bowie (Betty) of Dallas, cousins; John Reed III and Sherri Reed of Dallas, nephews; Morris and Gay Padgett of Gatesville, Texas, Steven and Megan Padgett of Las Vegas, Nevada, David and Kerri Gorman of Plano, Texas and niece Jennifer and Kelly Ralls Haslet, Texas. Grand nieces include Paige Hargrove, Alexandra English, Caitlyn English, Ashley Padgett, Clair Padgett, Ashlee Donahoo, Olivia Gorman, Sydney English, Erin Padgett, Kate Gorman and Alexandra Ralls. Grandnephew, Tyler Donahoo.
The family would like to extend a sincere than you to Solaris Hospice of Hamilton for their loving care of Johnnie in his final days. We appreciate the love and support of local friends during this difficult time.
