Larry Curry

Larry Curry, 67, of Hamilton, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 in the Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Funeral Services were held Saturday December 18, 2010 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Marvin Andrews officiating. Burial followed in the Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Riley Funeral Home.

Larry Curry was born December 2, 1943 in Hamilton to the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hubert and Evelyn Yocham Curry. He graduated from Pottsville High School in 1962 and was active in Football and the FFA where he learned welding and electrical skills. He utilized these skills throughout his entire life. After high school he began work as an electrician at Wilson Electric. He was united in marriage to Linda Massingill on October 26, 1962 in Hamilton. He was employed at Dalton Drilling for many years until his retirement. Larry was an honored active member of the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department. Larry was a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church. He was a friend to all and loved to fix things and help all the people that he could. Larry so enjoyed drinking coffee with all his friends every morning. His greatest joy was being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all taking his grandkids and great grandkids to see the cows. Larry was a loyal, husband, father, and grandfather and he will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his father in law, George Massingill, and his grandson in law, Clint Rice.

Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Linda Curry of Hamilton, two children, Lisa Curry of Hamilton, and Lance Curry and his wife Tonya of Hamilton, his grandchildren, Stephanie Burkeen and her fiancée Quinnton Lively, Brandon Burkeen and his wife Jonie, all of Hamilton, Kaci Bain and her husband Joseph of Mississippi, Cheyenne and Shaden Curry of Hamilton, his great-grandchildren, Brayden, Zaylyn, Anna, Bryce, Chelsi, Ellaina, Madison, Aubrey, and two in the Oven. one brother, Keith Curry and his wife Rita, of Hamilton, one sister, Jolene Sausbury and her husband Dean, of Texas City, his mothers in law, Evelyn Whitmire of Waco and Anita Massingill of Temple, his sister in law, Connie Jones and husband David of Proctor, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Serving as pallbearer were; Howard Pierson, Ron Bickle, Tommy Fuqua, Richard Layne, Mike Burkeen, James Kemp, and Jack Clowdus.
