She married shortly after her high school graduation from Dodson High School in Dodson, Texas in 1938. There were 13 in her graduation class.

Lucille was fortunate to be married to the love of her life, Ruel Dennis Todd, for nearly 71 years. She was ever steadfast in her devotion to him until his death on May 27, 2009. She was by his side, as always, when he took his last breath. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Nola Bell Comfort and Winona Holsomback: and her older son, Dennis Ruel Todd. Jr. She is survived by her son Alton C. Todd and wife, Nari, of Friendswood, Texas; daughter Teresa Todd of Ft. Davis, Texas; daughter-in-law Leanne Todd of Plano, Texas; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She always said she had a good return from her three children.

Lucille enjoyed traveling, shopping, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and playing Forty-Two and Mexican Train. She had a special place in her heart for children and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Calvary Baptist Church here in Hamilton. Lucille was devout Christian and seriously endeavored to lead a Christian life. She loved God and she loved her family, and that love was returned. She will be greatly missed by all those whom she touched in her long and charitable life. Her family and many friends can take great comfort in knowing that her soul was eager to rest in its heavenly home and to reunite with her loved ones.
