

Mary Harris went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 10, 2016 surrounded by family and loved ones. Mary was born on February 22, 1935 in Heifer Holler, Kentucky. She was born to Sylvina Adams Williams and Harlan E. Williams.
Mary married Albert Gayle Brown in May 1952 and was the mother to 4 children. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, husbands, Albert Gayle Brown and Bill Harris, and son, Kevin Douglas Brown.
Mary was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Evant where she was very involved in Kids Club, Sunday school and singing with the children. She loved singing in church and was like a mother to many other children besides her own. She had an open door policy that helped raise many neighborhood kids and loved them all. She loved teaching them about church, family, and the Lord.
Survivors include daughter, Texanne Brown Watson and husband, Bill Watson of Hamilton; sons, Albert Gayle Brown "JR" and wife, Nikki Brown of Merkel, and Charles Timothy Brown "Timmy" and wife, Renea of Merkel. Also, sisters, Irma Sue Weeks of Evant and Rita Castle of Indiana, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary worked as a teachers aide with the special education program in Hamilton and also worked as a nurses aide at the Hamilton Hospital where she loved caring for patients and their families. She loved her church family and was very involved with the Evant Volunteer Fire Dept. where she worked as a dispatcher.
Mary was a wife, mother, sister, mamaw, and meme and was always proud and vocal about her passions in life. She loved painting and enjoyed working with her flowers and plants. She was the rock of the family, always holding everything and everyone together. Mary always saw the good in everyone and will be missed by so many.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Evant on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10 am. Viewing will be held that morning at 9 am.
