Services for Mary Martine "Teenie" Little Hoard, of Hamilton, will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Riley Funeral Home with Reverend John Scoggins officiating. Mrs. Hoard passed away Saturday, Feb 19, 2011 at the age of 93. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Feb 21 at Riley Funera I Home.
Mary was born Jan 18, 1918 in Hamilton, TX to Orner M. Little and Lucy Blanche Thompson Little. She married James Ferguson Hoard June 5, 1936 in Hamilton. She was a founding member of the Littleville Baptist Church when it was established Sept 11, 1941 and her husband was the first pastor. They moved to Dripping Springs in 1949 where they owned and operated the Western Kitchen which was acclaimed nationally for its rainwater coffee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dripping Springs where Jimmy pastored. As was typical for the day in a small town like Dripping Springs, she also worked at the Post Office for a number of years. Later they lived in Colorado where they operated the cafe on Monarch Pass.
Mary loved to go RVing with her sisters Pauline and Tookie and their husbands. Every Saturday night she loved to get together with her sisters and family and play Tripoli where there was good food, good times and good fellowship. She also loved the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and Hamilton Bulldog football and basketball, but all ofthese paled in comparison to the love for her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Known to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Teenie" ; seeing them warmed her heart and brought a sparkle to her eye. They loved her home cooking and the excitement she shared with them each Christmas.
Martine moved to Dove Hill Nursing Home in Jan 2007 and very much enjoyed her final four years there. She had many friends among the residents and staff and called it home.
Teenie was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie; three sisters, Emily Pipes, Wanda "Tookie" Reinert, Pauline Meher; and by one brother, Allan Little. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Jackson and Jimmie Loyce (husband Charles) Seelig both of Hamilton, by two sisters, Joyce Reinert and Dorothy Wilcox, four grandchildren (all girls) Karen Moore, Patti Moore, Cindy Herbst and Carla Bailey, by eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Serving as Pallbearers are Ricky Moore, Randy Moore, Marty Herbst, Scott Bailey, Travis Moore, Jason Wilcox, Ray Reinert, David Reinert, and Ben Brumbalow.
