Ollie James Zschiesche

Ollie James Zschiesche, age 89, of Hamilton, TX, died July 12th, 2014. Services will be held Wednesday July 16th, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church Hamilton, TX, with Pastor Keith Reich officiating. Burial at Oakwood Cemetery Hamilton, TX.

Ollie was born January 30th, 1925 in Pottsville, TX the son of Herbert and Amanda (Gromatzky) Zschiesche. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pottsville and remained a faithful member of St. John Lutheran all of his life.

Ollie served his country, during WWII, aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S Cowpens. While aboard his own ship, he witnessed the signing of the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay upon the U.S.S Missouri.

Ollie married the love of his life Helen Ruth Endebrock on March 1st, 1945 while on leave. After discharge they began their life in Hamilton. They had 52 years together raising their four children. Ollie worked over 40 years at Smith & Jones Implement and Cotton Gin. He ginned the last bale of cotton in 1989 silencing the production era of cotton in Hamilton County. He went to work for the Hamilton County Electric Co-op and found a second career taking care of the facility and beautifying the town of Hamilton for over 25 years.

Ollie greatly loved his church, family, friends, garden and his community.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents and two brothers, Milford and Carroll.

Survivors include four children James, Jerry and wife Kay, Kathy Christensen and husband Paul, and David and wife Jennifer (all of Hamilton). Grandchildren include Kyle Zschiesche and wife Ruth, Kris Zschiesche and wife Sarah (all of Hamilton), Katy Copeland and husband Matt (of Stephenville TX), Jennifer Michalec and husband Jonathan (of Spring, TX), Erik Christensen (of Chicago, IL.), Joshua Zschiesche and Matthew Zschiesche of Hamilton. Great grandchildren include Ryder and Nolan Zschiesche, Kalen, Marin and Larsen Copeland, and Christian and Carter Michalec.

Also survived by three sisters, Alice Hobratsch of Plano, TX, Frances Farley and husband Robert of Bedford, TX, Evelyn Olsen & husband Clifford of Georgetown, TX and by his many nieces and nephews, numerous relatives, and countless friends.

Pallbearers are grandsons Kris Zschiesche, Kyle Zschiesche, Erik Christensen, Joshua Zschiesche, Matthew Zschiesche, Matt Copeland, and Jonathan Michalec.
