Robert Charles Dellaughter was born April 10, 1937, in Hamilton County. The son of the late Marcus Varden Dellaughter Sr and Montie Ree Prine, Robert attended school in Hamilton, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1956. After graduation, Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force. Robert married Carole Ann Sommerfeld April 18, 1980. He was a loving and devoted husband. Robert was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Robert spent his life working as a mason. For years, he was an integral part of Lee Masonry in Hamilton. Robert built homes, schools, and businesses all across the state of Texas. With skilled hands and quiet pride, he created strong foundations that will endure for generations. He believed deeply in honest work and took great pride in doing things the right way. Robert was a mentor to many in the masonry industry. Robert enjoyed the outdoors. He raised cattle on his small farm outside of town and enjoyed hunting with friends and family.
Robert will be remembered as the kindest, most giving man many had ever known. He offered his time, his talents, and his heart freely, always ready to help and never seeking recognition. His gentle nature, quick wit, and steady presence brought comfort and reassurance to everyone around him. While Robert may not have had kids of his own, he was a father, grandfather, and uncle to so many.
Robert lived humbly and generously, teaching by example that true strength is found in hard work, patience, as well as compassion. Robert was a man whose kindness and generosity touched all who knew him. His legacy lives on not only in the structures he built, but in the countless lives he touched and the love he leaves behind. His memory will remain in every act of kindness inspired by his life, and in every stone laid with care and purpose.
