Robert was a Christian gentleman who loved and was loved by all who knew him. He was best known for his spontaneous singing of hymns. He was a resident of Focused Care at Hamilton.
Robert was born on September 30, 1947, in Waco, Texas to William, Sr. and Elsie Wheeless. Robert contracted polio in 1950 and spent a year in a Houston polio hospital. All credit for his recovery and living a full life is given to his parents
Robert graduated from high school in Pasadena, Texas. He worked for numerous organizations and private companies including MHMR workshops in Houston and Dallas, Ridgeway Printing Company, Ramada Inn, Walmart and several restaurants. Robert’s brother Bill became caregiver for Robert in 2014.
Robert was a member of Littleville Baptist Church, Hamilton, Texas and an honorary member of Fairview Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Special appreciation is expressed to Focused Care at Hamilton. Appreciation is expressed to Wings Over Texas Hospice and to Robert’s primary care Medical Doctor and staff at the Family Rural Health Clinic and Hospital Emergency Room in Hamilton, Texas.
Robert was preceded in death by his father William Wheeless Sr and his mother Elsie Wheeless.
Robert is survived by his brother Bill Wheeless Jr and sister-in-law Karon Wheeless of Evant, Texas, Niece Amy J. Wheeless Pattillo - JD, Nephew-in-Law Jonathan Pattillo, Great Nephew Jonah Pattillo, Cousins Paul Kinghorn and family, Elane Lanier and family, Mary Melody Brown Barr and family, Karen Wheeless, Steve and Greg and Craig Wheeless and their families, Basal “Art” Wheeless and family.
Robert will be interred next to his parents in the Dallas National Veteran Memorial Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers are Paul Kinghorn of Brenham, Texas, Jonathan Pattillo of Austin, Texas and Jonah Pattillo of Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers Memorials may be given to LIttleville Baptist Church in Hamilton, Texas or Fairview Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
