Sandra J. Shockley

Sandra spent her childhood in Calvert, Texas before moving to Grand Prairie, Texas where she graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1963. She married twice and gave birth to three children before meeting the love of her life, David R. Shockley. They met at the Aerospatiale Helicopter Corporation where Sandra worked as a secretary. They married in July 1976.

The couple relocated to Duncanville, Texas to raise the children, lived briefly in Sierra Leone, Africa which she loved, and finally retired to Hamilton, Texas. Her happy place was the mountain cabin at Eagle Creek in New Mexico where she could unwind and relax.

Sandra was an avid animal lover whether it be horses and cows, dogs and cats, or bears and raccoons. She tried to feed them all. She also enjoyed a variety of activities at one time or another like reading, backpacking, camping, canoeing, scuba diving, gambling, playing soccer in the North Texas Women's Soccer Association, party prepping, and cooking. Mostly, she enjoyed gatherings and celebrations with family and friends. When many people think of her, that is what they speak of.

Sandra loved to travel and not just to the lower 48. She traveled to Alaska, and countries like Canada, Mexico, Italy, and the Netherlands.

Sandra received much fulfillment from her volunteer days at United Care and her trips to the Episcopal Diocese in South Dakota to assist a fellow church. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Stephenville, Texas.

Sandra is survived by her husband, David R. Shockley, children - Kimberly J. Shockley, Brent

R. Shockley, and Gordon A. Shockley. Grandchildren - Erika L. Seamayer Drummond, Andie L. Underwood, and Hayden R. Shockley, as well as great granddaughter Olivia L. Drummond.

She was preceded in death by her father Minor Gladden Anderson Jr., mother Juanita Francis Standifer Anderson, and sister Laurel L. Anderson St. John.
