

Services for S. C. Thetford, 85, of Carlton will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Carlton Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Hamilton. S.C. passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Hamilton General Hospital.
S.C. was born November 19, 1926 in Purmela, TX to Early Lee Thetford and Minnie Lee Meyer Thetford. He married Nancy Jane Griffis, December 20, 1947, in Hamilton. S.C. served in the Philippines during World War II with Company D 738th Military Police Battalion. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon. He had lived in Hamilton County all his life where he was a farmer and rancher and ran the service station in Carlton for several years. S.C. was a member of Carlton Baptist Church and Stephenville VFW.
Mr. Thetford was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jane Thetford of Carlton; three sons, James Thetford and wife Barbara of McAllen, Dale Thetford and wife Pam of Stephenville, and Floyd Thetford of Katy; six grandchildren, Jamie Thetford, Ward Thetford, Stephen Thetford and wife Melinda, Terri Waltz and husband Travis, John Thetford, and Zack Thetford; three great-grandchildren, Jared Thetford, Abby Waltz and Katelyn Thetford; one brother, Randell Thetford and one sister Yvonne Rattan.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to the American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
S.C. Thetford loved animals and the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
