During the morning of August 15, 2018, Travis peacefully departed his 86 years of life at his daughter’s home in Blue Ridge, TX. He was surrounded by his children. Travis Odom, son of the late Thomas DeWitt and Ola Mae Odom, was born December 10, 1931 in Fort Worth, TX. At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ. He was united in holy matrimony to Bette Hovend Odom on November 24, 1951. In their 65 years of marriage, the couple was blessed with three children. The Odom family had an exciting life, living in many different states with Travis serving in the Air Force and then becoming a pilot for American Airlines for 39 years. In his later years, he excelled as a golfer, which included being an active member of the San Saba Country Club and golf trips in the couples’ RV all over the state. Never one to sit still for long, Travis was always outside, either tending his vegetable garden, feeding his many adopted cats, or mowing the yard. He was a dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hamilton, TX. Being a dependable man of integrity and having quiet, understated humor, he was loved by all who met him. His Christian life was an example for his family and friends and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette, mother, father, his brother, Talmadge Odom, brother, Edward Odom, and sister, Mary Frances Spikes. He is survived by his children: Karen (and Lee Roy) Tyson of Hamilton, TX, Lynn (and Curtis) Roberts of Round Rock, TX, Paul (and Susie) Odom of Hamilton, TX; sister in law Mary (and Jimmy) Gilmore of Burleson, TX; sister in law Katherine Odom of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren: Keith (and Kelly) Voges, Kristin (and John David) Nicholson, Lauren (and Josh) Harmon, Elizabeth (and Garen) Graves, Sarah Zchiesche, Emilie (and Brian) Reeves, John Tyson, and Alex (and Kelsey) Odom; 14 great grandchildren: Braydin and Jenna, Luke, Landon, and Jacob; Will, Anna Beth, Clara, and Kate; Ryder and Nolan; Aubree and Lillie; Harper and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
