Vada Lee Gregory

Vada was born June 24, 1918 in Locker, Texas, in San Saba County to L.E. and Myrtle Watkins McCarty. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Mills County before marring C.D. Gregory and moving to Hamilton, where she spent the remainder of her years. Together, they raised four children, Marie, Barbara, Peggy and Blaine. She was a member of the Park Heights Church of Christ.

The most important part of Vada’s life was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her shoulder was always available at any time for family and friends and she was a 2nd Mom to many others. Vada’s one big gift was the “gift of gab” and this was her favorite past time. Her home was always open to family, friends and the occasional stranger, depending on who C.D. brought home. Known as “Granny” to many, she could whip up a meal fit for a king and spin a wild tale or two to share with her grandchildren.

Vada was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; daughter, Marie Earls; grandson Ricky Earls; great grandsons Blake Goerdel and Kyle Hall; brothers, Doris G. McCarty, Travis O. McCarty and L.E. McCarty Jr.; sisters Myrl Luckie, Earlene Hitt and Anita Hooker; and son-in-law W. F Earls.

She is survived by: her children and their spouses, Barbara Gregory Caraway and Dale, Peggy Gregory Pipkin and Marion; and Blaine Massingill and Connie. : Her brother Don McCarty and Carolyn;

Grandchildren: Brenda Earls Haley and Sid; Beverly Caraway Rohde and Brett; Brent Caraway, Ronda Williams Wiggam, Robin Williams Hall and Chris; Marion G. “Tiger” Pipkin, Jr. Brandun Massingill and Malaina, Keisha Massingill and Paige Massingill.

Great Grandchildren: Alicia Faerber and Ryan, Ashley Hoffman and Aaron, Meghan Wagner, and Cody, Ryan Cofer and Jordan, Michelle Carroll, Morgan Wiggam, Kendyl Pipkin, Caleb Pipkin, Cayden Pipkin, Camryn Lurales and Addison Massingill.

Great Great Grandchildren: Cole Faerber, Caden Faerber, Noah Candelier, Ethan Fore, Colin Bellard Caellum Blake Wagner and Sloane Cofer, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
