Mary Elizabeth Dempsey

Our mom lived a full life and was a woman of beauty and strength and she had a strong love of her family and was a force of nature and could be quite stubborn. She enjoyed reading, food, baking, and bingo with her beloved friends at Ecumenical.

Mary built a life defined by devotion, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and above all she loved her God.

She was the wife of the late Richard H Dempsey, and the mother of the late Carol Louise Dempsey, and grandmother of the late Shawn McCord; she is survived by her daughters, Linda Hare, Kathy Sweigart (Nelson); grandchildren, Christopher Hare (Christine), Brian Hare (Tricia) and Meagan Hirsch (Bruce); and great grandchildren, Matthew Hare, Olivia Woodham ,Scarlett Hare, Zachary Hare, Maxwell Hare, Jacob Hare and Eden Hare. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Ill; and her sister, Jean M. Davis.

A visitation and recitation of the rosary will be held at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg, Tuesday, June 9,2026 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
