

James Norman “Jim” Blackwell, 79, of Hesperia, passed away suddenly at home
on Tuesday, January 25. 2022.
A native of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Jim was a son of the late Albert
and Montiree Arledge Blackwell.
Jim enjoyed the outdoors and operated his own backhoe business for many years.
He loved vintage cars and was the proud owner of a classic 1955 Chevrolet. An
avid fan of NASCAR and NHRA, Jim was exceptionally skilled with the Game of
Billiards, spending many hours with friends around the table in his “Man CaveGarage.”
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Erin Gavett Blackwell; a son,
Tim Blackwell; a daughter, Nikki Church and her husband, Brian; six
grandchildren, Curtis, Alexandria, Cole, Alex, Garrett, and Seth; four greatgrandchildren, Wade, June, Dawson, and Taytum; four siblings, Eloree Pruitt,
Francis Elder, Ray Blackwell, and Diane Blackwell, all of Spartanburg, South
Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Ike Blackwell,
and a sister, Eula Mae Gossett.
Jim was a simple man who loved being with his family and friends, especially on
outings along the Colorado River, where a Celebration of Life will take place at a
later date.
