Kevin was born on March 11th, 1971 in Granada Hills CA to Ellen Kathryn Wirsing and Roger Craig Wirsing.
As a child he loved taking trips with his maternal grandparents, Gere and Howard Wilke, camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. His early childhood passion was all-things military, recreating many battles with thousands of miniature army men. Somewhere in late elementary school, his attention shifted to the game “Dungeons and Dragons”. Throughout his life, he held a profound appreciation for this type of gaming and art. He was extremely knowledgeable in the field of fantasy art and as an adult he had a successful business buying and selling this artwork.
Kevin served his country with honor for seven years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Kansas, Germany, Korea and Macedonia. Upon his discharge, he enrolled and received his AA Degree in Media Studies, graduating Cum Laude from Los Angeles Mission College. He followed that by enrolling in California State University Northridge, receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy, along with several awards and commendations.
Kevin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Geraldine and Howard Wilke and his uncle Steve Wilke. He is survived by his parents, Roger Wirsing, Hesperia CA and Ellen Wirsing, Nashville, TN, his son Caledon Wirsing and daughter Bree Wirsing, both of Hesperia, and partner Jill Lemus, also of Hesperia. He is survived also by daughter Robyn Wirsing, Benton, Louisiana.
After receiving the dreaded diagnosis of cancer, Kevin was determined to do everything possible to fight this horrible disease, enduring many different debilitating treatments. He vowed to be present in his children’s lives as long as he could. He was a loving and devoted father and son.
Celebration of Kevin Howard Wirsing’s life will be on September 9, 2021 at 11:15 am, at Riverside National Veteran’s Cemetery.
