Dr. Lanter was a colleague who became a dear friend. I feel so fortunate to have known him.He loved being a physician educator . Countless students benefitted from his advice and mentorship. His life story was fascinating. I enjoyed listening to his career experiences as well as how much he loved his family. I knew about his joy in preparing Thanksgiving dinner -and his famous brownies!
He advised my daughter in medical school and always asked me:"how's my gal"? I will never forget the excitement we felt when we called him on match day to tell him that she matched at Brown. He would tell her"you keep spinning your magic"when she told him of her accomplishments.I will miss my meetings and phone calls with him. I will especially miss how he ended every call:"all good things".
To the Lanter family:"all good things in his memory".

My Uncle Bernie was a force, a presence, an inspiration. When we spoke on the phone, every conversation started with “ How’s the poet laureate today?” And then “And how’s your gal?” And, no matter my age, he closed the conversation “All good young man”.  So today, dear uncle, your poet laureate is in tears. My gal is beautiful. And to you I say, all good, all good, your memory forever a blessing. I love you so much.
