SHAPIRO-Daniel Jay. Formerly of Brooklyn, NY, last residence in Valley Stream, NY, passed away on March 2nd, 2014 at the age of 65. Beloved son of Irwin & Nora. Cherished brother to George (Linda) & Michael (Nancy). Devoted father to Tara Lauria (Jeff), Elysse Kreiss (Jonathan) and Andrea Shapiro. Loving Grandfather to Kate, Joseph and Donovan. Treasured uncle to Andrew, David (Amanda) and Ian Shapiro. Graduate of the College of Staten Island and Masters from NYU. Dedicated Social Worker, employed previously by Bronx Psychiatric Center and Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center. Car enthusiast, film buff, moustache aficionado. The family is requesting donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.
