Florence C Steiger

Born April 19, 1924 in NYC, she is survived by children Margie & Harold Schechter, Ken Steiger & Lisa Barie, Jill & David Orbuch, grandchildren Craig & Erika, Carrie & Brian, Alex, Drew, Sarah & Caleb , Elana & Mira, Rachel, and great-grandsons Tyler, Luke, and Kobi, sister Lois and brother Ron (Joan) as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Aaron Steiger, and her parents, Jerome and Marion Cohen.

Florence had a zest for life and brought joy and smiles to family and friends throughout her life, and to her caregivers in her last years. She was a graduate of Lawrence HS and State Teachers College at Albany, NY. She spent her teaching career as a third-grade teacher in Cedarhurst, NY. She travelled the world before, during, and after her life with Aaron, loved the NY Times crossword puzzle (to be done only in ink!), reading, and socializing with friends, and was a passionate volunteer for Temple Sinai and Temple Am Echad, as well as the National Council of Jewish Women in Nassau County. After spending 96 years on Long Island, NY she made a new home in St. Louis Park, MN.
