I was shocked to learn of this tragic loss. Ira was a joyful soul that always showed me kindness and concern. Rest in peace.

It is always hard to say goodbye to good people.  
Dr. Sheres was well loved, and for good reasons.

It was a priviledge to have known him for the time he was with us.

Ira Sheres was a deeply caring human being, he was a mensch. When I came to the dental office, he and Angela always took great care of me and you could tell he treated everyone who came and who worked with him with equal respect and concern. May his memory be a blessing to all his family and friends and may his Spirit keep shining brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. 

My deepest condolences go out to Dr. Sheres' family, and also to his second family: his wonderful staff of many years, who provided warmth, caring and predictably excellent professionalism with every appointment .

I'm heartbroken to hear of Dr. Sheres' death.  He was my dentist for many years;  in addition to his suberb skills and engaging personality,  I truly valued and felt 100% trust with him because of his highly ethical professional decisions and communication  regarding my care and dental health needs.

It was also the most beautiful, relaxing dental office I've visited in my life time.
The constant, soft classical music playing in the background placated my anxiety associated with  dental work.
Dr. Ira Sheres was extraordinarily gentle and patient; he was a superb doctor and a wonderful, wonderful human being.  My heart goes out to his beloved family and adored children that he lovingly spoke of and shared with their pictures  in his office.
To the staff that worked with him for so many years--Angela, Dawn and Kelly--I'm so, so sorry for your loss.

Ira was a phenomenal person and dentist. My family and I are saddened by the news of his passing. We felt fortunate to be under his care and pray for those he left behind. 

It was just shocking to see the shocking news that he had passed away. He was my dentist for almost a decade ever since I was 9 years old, and he was such a vibrant person. He really showed a passion towards his work, and my deepest condolences for his family.

We all shall miss Dr Ira Sheres' great care and caring.  For 20+ years, I always looked forward to visiting Ira and the wonderful staff, and to catching up on families and events.  After every visit, I (and my teeth) felt so very fortunate.  Beth and my heartfelt condolences to Dr. Sheres' family and associates.

I will remember my dentist Ira as very nearly family to me.  Very early,  I remember Ira fitting me in his ambitious schedule to attend to my youngest son's emergency toothache. I remember, as Ira's last patient on a Friday, seeing him through the window jump into the backseat of a convertible and head off for a weekend trip. A few years later, I remember Ira sidling over to share pictures of his new son. I remember Ira solicitously questioning my training for a road race, and a few years later his passing me on the road as he raced his marathon, and, in another visit, Ira complaining about a sore hip, but claiming I inspired his sticking with it. Then I remember this Fall, I headed into town after a call from my son who had just received a cleaning from new staff, Ira sharing his health battle and optimism, and also a quick Covid hug, a moment for which I will be always grateful.

Ira has been a fixture in my world since I was little more than a toddler. For the better part of 30 years he has been a beacon of positivity and caring--a happy refrain in my life. I am eternally grateful for the many hours of loving work he's put into my teeth, keeping me smiling. It's comforting to think of all the smiles in which he will live on, and the incalculable ripple of positivity his life and his work will perpetuate. Wishing all who knew him and loved him comfort, especially his family to whom I extend my deepest condolences.

I knew I wanted to be a part of Dr. Sheres dental team the moment I met him.  I was privileged to be his hygienist and co-therapist for eight really great years. Not only was he a very positive role model to those around him...he was an excellent clinician! His kindness and gentleness coupled with his knowledge and skills were a true gift to Dentistry and his patients. I truly valued his respect and will continue to share his ideals in my future career endeavors. 
Dr. Sheres will not be forgotten...his goodness will continue through those that loved him.

Ira Sheres was more than our dentist for so many years. Yes, he took care of the teeth of our whole family but he also was a caring, kind presence in our world. I will always remember the day that our 12 year old daughter came home from the dentist, exploding with delight and wonder because she had discovered (through a photo in the office) that her psychiatrist, Steve Sokoll, was Ira's partner. I absolutely loved Ira and will miss him tremendously. I met Ira when I first moved to Philly in 2004. Through a front tooth accident in my youth, it was a great fortune to be introduced to Ira. Given that I didn't visit the dentist only twice a year, I got to know Ira really well over the past 15 years. He was such a positive energy and my heart is sad now that he is no longer with us. I loved getting to see his kids grow up and wish them and Ira's husband peace as they adjust to life without him. 

My heartfelt condolences to the family of my beloved dentist. I had been his patient for 20 plus years. His warmth and caring    will be sorely missed.

I was fortunate to meet Ira soon after I started practicing dentistry in Philadelphia at a local dental study club meeting.  Somehow we started talking and a long-term relationship was formed.  Ira was one of the first dentists to believe in my capabilities and truly made the development of my practice possible.  He was a steadfast regular attendee at my study club meetings and a constant source of support over many years.  At one point Ira invited my family to his house and we felt fortunate to meet Steve, Rosie and Max.  I am truly grateful to have known Ira over so many years.  He will be missed dearly.

I met Dr. Sheres in the West Philly office, a long time ago. Even as a young dentist, he was so positive, knowledgeable and reassuring  that over the years I travelled to wherever he was practicing, even if it meant an hour plus commute. 
When my kids came along, they too were entrusted to the care of the finest professional and most caring human being they could ever hope to find. 
A visit was always a time to connect..kids, travel, life.... and over the years he and his staff became like family.
I will miss him terribly.

Ira was a wonderful dentist and every time I went to the office he, Angela, Kelly  and Dawn were so welcoming, it was like a family and it was just a great experience.  Ira always asked about how I was doing and took the time to talk and connect.  I will miss him greatly.

I met Ira when he was still a student and became his first or second patient after he was graduated.  I had absolute trust in him as a professional but it is as a dear friend that I will always remember him.  Peace to his soul.

My profound condolences go to Steve, Max, Rosie, and Ira's extended family in this terrible time. I have very fond memories of many years of friendship with Ira and Steve. He was a wonderful, wonderful guy who knew how to live life to its fullest. I'm thankful for his time with us and I'm thankful for the happy life that he built with Steve, Max, and Rosie. My thoughts are with Steve and Ira's family.

I happened upon Ira’s Pine Street office when I was looking for a dentist and lived on 19th and Pine Street around 25 years ago.  I moved to the suburbs in 2000 but continued schlepping into the city to see Ira since I loved and trusted him so much.

I not only considered him to be an excellent and trustworthy dentist but more of a friend.  Since we had kids around similar ages, we would talk about their bar and bat mitzvahs, their college process and other issues relating to them. We also talked about running and fitness since we had that in common and other fun things like planning vacations. 

When I heard about Ira’s passing, I was extremely devastated and still am.  He was such a positive and charming man and always so enjoyable to be around.  My time in the office always took longer than it should have since we would gab together so much.  It was more like a coffee date sometimes than a dental appointment.

I will miss having Ira as my dentist, but more importantly I will truly miss having him as a friend.  Sending my deepest condolences to his husband, son and daughter whom I know he loved and cherished so much.
