I first met Joan when I was a new special education teacher. She welcomed me with her signature warm smile and words of encouragement. She and Joel became friends and mentors to both my husband and I. The world has lost a caring soul. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. I know it will be to me.

Joel,
It is with much sadness that we learned of Joan's passing. Our wonderful memories we shared with Joan and you over the years have enriched our lives and is something we will always remember. Over one's lifetime we meet many people, some of who make a connection that is almost family like. Joan and you were like that to Harlene and me. During this difficult time be strengthened by the fact that many many friends have you in their prayers. May Joan's memory be a blessing forever, and let us all say Amen.
