Jonathan Kastoff

Jon was born April 6, 1949 in New York City to Hyman and Helen (nee Breskin) Kastoff. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1965 at the age of 16, received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Stony Brook in 1969, and earned his J.D. from SUNY Buffalo in 1972. Early in his legal career, Jon worked at the New York Stock Exchange in their regulatory department, and later served many years as an Administrative Law Judge for the State of New York. In his retirement, he was an active member of his synagogue, enjoyed sharing trivia and solving puzzles, and loved video chatting with and visiting his grandchildren.

Jon is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sheryl (nee Farbstein), sister Judy (Michael) Sears, daughter Marisa (Michael) Blitstein, son Mitchell (Iris) Yen-Kastoff, niece Michaela (Nick) Hernandez, and grandchildren Zoe, Zachary, and Ryland. Jon was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother Michael, who died in infancy.

The funeral will be held at 10:45 am on Sunday April 24, 2022 at the Sanctuary of Abraham and Sarah at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries in Paramus, NJ. Shiva reception to follow at 2pm at Boulevard-Riverside Chapel in Hewlett, NY
