Judy was born in Manhattan in the arms of Ada and Paul, an only child, with traditional parents, she decided to make her own call.
Growing up independent and ahead of her time, she adopted dance and ballet as her new passion, and lifeline.
Blossoming into a beautiful young woman setting out to be her own supporter, she spent evenings and weekends as a dancer at the Latin Quarter!
A few years later after some time to be young and wild, she then decided to marry Lenny and have her first child.
Penni was born - 4 years later came Me, we headed from Brooklyn to the Five Towns, the beginning of our family tree.
In a short time with her new friends, traveling, children, and summers at the beach, she built a dance studio in our basement and was thrilled to begin to teach.
Her days were full, blessed, and full of life…she loved being a dance teacher, a mother, and a caring wife.
She also loved to ride, and took many bicycling trips overseas, also fishing trips, hiking trips - she even travelled through Switzerland on skis!
Along with everything she also enjoyed company and a house full of laughter, whether it was Holiday entertaining, Bridge or Mahjong, it was the time with friends and family that she was after.
Add to it all a tomato business, a vitamin business, cultivated an organic garden and was studying court reporting, while still raising children, choreographing aerobics, teaching ballet classes in our basement, her life was multi-faceted, and definitely, not boring!
Life did what it does, I was in high school, and she divorced, a few years later she got married again to Alvin; and life took on a new course.
Over the next number of years, she remained unique and full of life, always loving a good time, a new adventure, an opportunity to add some spice.
Judy and Al eventually left the suburbs to return to the city they made new friends, traveled, moved around, they continued to keep very busy.
Her interests never waned, and she took up knitting and crocheted shawls, she also began to model, and her head shots were displayed on subway walls!
Time went on, Penni and I now with marriages and grown, she became a grandmother to Adan and Samalie, Laira, Alli and Evie; 5 grandchildren, she was blessed to call her own.
She had many new blessings and joys, and her life didn’t slow down, she came many times to visit young Adan and I in Seattle, and I would also come back to visit her back in town.
Years went by and age settled in, she began to slow down; life wasn’t exactly as it had been.
Al passed away, things were changing, her life was ready for a new look, she partnered with her dear friend Sandy, they wrote together and eventually published their first book!
As her later years went by, I was blessed to have new memories with her and so did my son, for the last 7 years we have lived together, moved to Florida, formed new relationships, and created different kinds of fun.
So today I ask for remembrance on her behalf, the friend, the grandma, but most of all, her love to laugh.
Her sarcasm, her hatred for anyone feeling blue, she’d look at me quite often and say “if you cry again, I’m going to smack you!”
She accomplished so much, touched many, and now we join her in her ballet class in the sky, watching her make new memories, joining with friends and loved ones, and letting her soul fly.
A memorial service will be held on July 6, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
