Myron "Mike" Oshinsky, 87, of North Woodmere, NY, passed away suddenly on January 29, 2016 in Wellington, Fl. Mike was born in New York City on December 31, 1928 the son of Irving and Rowie Oshinsky, brother of Howard and Dorie. He was a graduate of CCNY, a manufacturer of men's clothing, and a manager of commercial buildings in NYC. Mike was a shining example of service and charity, volunteering for over 30 years in the Child Life Department of Long Island Jewish Hospital, keeping company with children dealing with all manner of illness, and coordinating the visits of professional athletes to the hospital. Mike was an enthusiastic fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, convincing friends, family and colleagues to jump into jello every summer. He was a dedicated spiritual man, an integral part of Temple Hillel in North Woodmere, where he was a former Congregation and Board President, and daily minyan attendee. He lived his faith. He loved musical theater and wished his baritone was up to Gilbert and Sullivan. HIs other passion was sports, a season ticket holder for the Islanders and Mets, and an A level racquetball player.
Mike is survived by his wife Marilyn, his children James and Wendy, and his grandchildren Joshua, Dustin, Casey, Breanna and Kira.
Services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels in Hewlett, NY at 12 noon. Interment will take place at the Union Fields Cemetery. A graveside service for the immediate family will take place at the Union Fields Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at 805 Plainfield lane in North Woodmere.
