

Patricia was the daughter of Philip Gold and Rhoda Schneider and the granddaughter of Minnie and Benjamin Schneider. She was Jewish and raised in a Jewish family and household.
Patricia will be reunited with her family- grandparents Minnie & Benjamin Schneider and her mother Rhoda Schneider, at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, New York.
Patricia is survived by her two daughters, the eldest Rosalyn Gold-Onwude and youngest Ann Gold-Onwude, of 5 years age difference. She is preceded in death by their father, Austin Onwude, her former husband. She is also survived by close family- her cousins Wayne, Barbara and Suzy Schneider and Suzy’s husband and their 3 sons.
Patricia was born and raised in Forest Hills where she attended Russell Sage Junior High School and Forest Hills High School. At the collegiate level she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Albany. She was a Technical Support Specialist at Prudential Securities for over 15 years.
Patricia Gold was a devoted mother instilling values of hard work and the importance of education in her daughters. She poured her life into her daughters. She was sweet, peaceful, quiet, shy, and kind with beautiful clear green eyes and a soft laugh.
Patricia was fiercely passionate about women’s sports and increasing opportunities and equality for women and girls in sports. She helped to organize girls' basketball leagues in Queens and the greater New York area. Pat was the mom who drove her daughters and their teammates all over the city and country to games and practices in support of their love of the game. Patricia also used her pen as a tool for progress. She wrote about the importance of women’s sports and gender equity in newspapers including being published in the New York Times. She was recognized for her efforts with the Prudential Community Champions Shining Star award. Today, women’s sports have grown exponentially and has exciting momentum- Patricia was an early pioneer and believer in the potential of the space and the valuable life skills and confidence provided to young girls. To this day, Patricia’s daughters have fulfilling careers and passions around sports and women’s empowerment- a legacy that lives on.
Patricia endured a long nearly 20-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She died on Sunday, February 1st, 2026, at the age of 71. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. May she have peace and rest eternally.
A committal service will be held at Beth David Cemetery, located at 300 Elmont Rd, Elmont, NY 11003, on February 2, 2026, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
The funeral service will take place at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels, 1450 Broadway, Hewlett, NY 11557, on February 3, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The service will be available via live stream
