Robert Schnuer

SCHNUER, Robert "Bob" I., age 85 years young, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday July 23, 2018. Larger than life and always the loudest voice in the room, Bob lived a life led by humor, success, and a first-rate family to match. After growing up on Long Island, Bob graduated with a Bachelors in Economics from Wesleyan University in 1954. After he graduated, Bob went on to serve in the US Army for two years. He then began a 40+ year career with Cigna, a company he was thrilled to call home for the rest of his life. At Cigna, he was the number one group salesperson for many years, and was a recurring recipient of the prestigious Gold Circle award. Post "retirement," he enjoyed continued professional achievement and was sought as a consultant for his insurance and business expertise. A man of many passions, Bob was often found yelling at the TV during a Giants game, on the golf course with friends, celebrating in the Belmont winners circle, or dining at a five-star restaurant with his family. He was the beloved husband of 53 years to the late Edie, and will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Vickie, with whom he shared many wonderful experiences over 10 years. A true patriarch, he was the proud father of Nancy and Jimmy, cherished grandfather of Diana (Alex) and Gary, and brother of Lois. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, and the great Charney, who stoles his heart. Funeral service Friday, July 27, 2018 at 9AM at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels located at 1450 Broadway, Hewlett, NY 11557. Interment to follow at New Montefiore Cemetery. Reception at The Woodmere Club at 2PM.
