I said it before, Saul was a great man from a wonderful family. We did many things together from high school through our 20’s.  Basketball, golf or softball if you needed someone to play you could always count on Saul. We hung out, went to the movies and he even took me to a club in Staten Island to meet his friends. It was there where I got to really see how Saul lived his life between the hearing world and deaf world. During our college years I spoke to him many times over the phone through a third party but for me it was just him and me talking like the friends that we were. Whenever he came back home he new where he could find me and would stop by the Woodro. We would share some food and catch up on what was going on. It was a sad day for me when I went to Saul’s service but it was comforting to see how many people shared those same memories as I did about Saul. I realized that he had touched the lives of so many. Saul was a great man and friend, the world will miss him but will not forget. I hope and pray that time will help his family heal. 

Saul played tennis at Tuscarora Tennis Club for several years in Frederick, MD.  He was a fabulous gentleman and an inspiration .   Please share my condolences with the family.

I played fast pitch hardball baseball with Saul Gevarter with the Fremont Marlins adult league baseball team. 

He and I were the oldest players on the team while the rest of the team were barely out of high school. We made good contact with the ball and we complimented each other on that, he offered me good feedback on my swing, while I shared my observations as well.

He was my favorite teammate of all time. I will miss him greatly.

I also want to kindly offer my deepest sympathies and love to Saul's family and closest friends. It is a tough pill to swallow to realize he is departed, but the memories sweeten the taste. I wish I hung out more with Saul, or had more opportunities to do so. I believe my playing career would have prolonged as long he was around, because he is an inspiration as a person and athlete and as a  competitive baseball & softball player.

He was a baller to the end.

So sad to hear of my old friend Saul passing. Will always remember playing basketball and softball with him. When we went to the movies he would buy the tickets so he could get me in for half price. Will never forget the time he drove me to Staten Island to hang out with his friends. Still have the Nike Flight jacket that his dad gave me a great deal on 30 years ago. And those three way phone conversations we had when he went to college and then moved out West. Served his family many times at the Woodro though the 80’s and 90’s. Last summer I ran into Stacy at the dog park in East Rockaway. Saul was a great guy from a wonderful family. We might not have seen each other or talked in a while but “friends are like  stars, you don’t always see them but you always know they are there”.
