Devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, died on August 26, 2012. Sylvia was born in Romania on April 11, 1923 to Saul and Rose Goodhart. She came to America when she was two months old as part of her family’s quest for a better life--which they achieved. Sylvia’s greatest joy was her family whom she placed before everything else. Love of beauty filled her daily life-- whether appreciating the grace and color of a butterfly or viewing a Picasso. She also loved music with a taste ranging from Thelonious Monk to Puccini. Sylvia loved the experiences of travel which she did adventurously and with great energy and verve. She loved surrounding herself with artifacts she had returned with from China, Turkey, Thailand and Europe. She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Bernie; her children Adria, Ron and Julie; daughter-in-law Teri; son-in-law Howie; loving grandson Justin and his wife Melissa; great-grandson Landon; brother Abe and sister Natalie. She will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be held on Sunday at: Mount Hebron Cemetery at 11 AM. Family and friends will gather at 1:30 PM at the Sephardic Temple of Cedarhurst, 775 Branch Boulevard.
