Alice Diaz Bannister

Alice Bannister (nee Diaz), age 60, of Calumet Township passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2015. She was surrounded by lots of love at the time of her passing. She is survived by her mother, Juanita; three beloved children: Jeremy (Lisa) Bannister, Crystal (Matthew) McBroom and Anthony Bannister; nine treasured grandchildren: A.J., Cash, Ivy, Lucy, Mandy, Melanie, Adeline, Kendall and Bree; three brothers: Pete Diaz, Jose (Erin) Diaz and Ramon Diaz; six sisters: Jane (Richard) McIntire, Gloria (Paul) Butler, Irene (Joe) Aguila, Sandy (Jesse) Rivera, Raquel (Juan) Arenas and Avelina (Scott) Russell; numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong best friends: June (Jesse) Fanning and Ruth (Alex) Longoria. Alice was preceded in death by her father, Jose Diaz; brother, Ernie Diaz; sister, Consuelo Diaz and former husband, Eddie Bannister. Alice was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Black Oak. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She touched the lives of many people and will forever be remembered. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 10:15 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road, Highland, IN with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 6025 W. 25th Ave., Gary, IN with Rev. Theodore Mens officiating. Interment will conclude at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN.
