Bernice R Markiewicz Brakebill

IN Bernice R. Brakebill (nee Markiewicz), age 75, of Schererville, passed away Monday, November 8, 2010. She is survived by three children: Linda (Joseph) Maliziola of St. John, Michael Brakebill of Schererville and Edward (Melissa) Brakebill of Boone Grove, IN; nine grandchildren: Traci and Holly Maliziola of St. John; Charlie, Jacob and Sammy Brakebill of Boone Grove, IN; Nick (Tamara) Brakebill of Hammond; Danny, Matt and Alex Burke of Schererville; one great granddaughter, Allison Brakebill of Hammond; three sisters: Louise Crockett of CO, Pat Wakeland of WI and Karen Petros of Cedar Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brakebill was preceded in death by her husband Michael; and daughter, Laura Burke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, November 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 500 Northgate Dr., Dyer, IN with Rev. Alfred Dettmer officiating. Entombment at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland. Mrs. Brakebill was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church of Dyer. She retired from Correct Piping of Portage. Bernice was a saint who raised and nurtured her daughter Laura's children after her passing.
