November 13, 1923 – September 6, 2022
IN THE CARE OF
Kuiper Funeral Home
Betty left this world on September 6, 2022 at the age of 98. Betty was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Her loving heart has left a beam of light in all she loved.
Betty was born November 13, 1923 to the late Clyde and Nora (nee Coffenberry) Stephens. She married her childhood sweetheart, dance partner, and late husband of 75 years, Harold ”Hap” Vaughn in 1942. Betty was an amazing caregiver and was known for her kindness, love, and graciousness. She raised four children Jeffrey (Carol) Vaughn, James (Mary) Vaughn, Janee (Nick) Kile, and Jody Wrona. She will be missed by her grandchildren Emily Vaughn, Laura Vaughn, Christina Roberts, Nathan Vaughn, Lindsay Uhl, Amanda Kile, Natalie Wrona, and Samantha Wrona. She also leaves her love in the hearts of her great grandchildren Brooke, Eva, Gavin, Myla, Makenna, and the three great grandchildren due in December.
Betty loved family, nature, traveling, spending time on the lake and enjoying life with family and friends. Together with Hap, she and her husband raised their family and showed others by example that working hard and caring for others in their time of need reaps great rewards.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Virginia Plantinga, brother Edward Stephens, granddaughter Tamara Vaughn, son-in-laws Mike and Dan and loving friend Marie DeRolf. The family would like to thank Dr. Schmalz, Heart to Heart Hospice and Hearthstone Health Campus for all their care. Family will be conducting a family celebration of life at a later date. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, your local humane society, or local Hospice.
