Beverly Ann Szczudlak

Beverly Ann (O’Dea) Szczudlak, 94, of Chesterton, IN, passed away on January 17, 2026 at her home. Born on May 17, 1931 in Chicago, IL, to the late Neil (Cornelia Lucas) O’Dea, Beverly married Richard Szczudlak on August 18, 1956 at St. Casimir Church. Beverly was a devoted member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, as well as a member of Ladies Sodality.

Beverly enjoyed reading, watching the Chicago Cubs, baking her signature pound cake, and always putting others first. Beverly was all about family, starting at a young age by taking care of her own siblings, and then her children, and thrived spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who knew her will miss her one-of-a-kind laugh and unforgettable hugs.

Beverly was the beloved wife of the late Richard Szczudlak; loving mother to Rick (Tracey), Gayle (Bob) Richtsteig, Gary, Karen (Greg) Stefani, Kevin (Terri), and Robin (Nick) Companiott; as well as a precious grandmother to 14 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia Church, with Father Michael McKinney officiating. The family will hold a private family burial at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens immediately following.
